Handrail Tactile Indicators
DTAC Handrail Tactile Indicators (HRTI’s) are used when handrails are not continuous and/or no tactile ground surface indicators are required.
Handrail Tactile Indicators assist the visually impaired to safely negotiate stairs by indicating where a handrail and stairway ends and also help to deter and prevent unwanted “grinding” damage from skateboards, rollerblades and BMX bikes.
Handrail buttons should be designed and installed to comply with AS/NZS 1428.4.1 and with the NCC Section D4D9.
